Random thoughts about life and knitting

Tuesday, February 06, 2007

Okay, it's been a looong loooong time since I have posted. I went away for a weekend after finishing a pair of socks for my brother and started a pair of socks for my sweetie. When I came back to work, I have never been so busy - until today. There is all sorts of budget crisis drama in our government agency, I started classes, and for the past week it has been sooooooo cold (global warming seems to have taken a short vacation).
I cant seem to find the pictures of the socks I made for my brother's birthday. It almost seems that I never made them - lol - as I never received any acknowledgement that he received them. Hmmmmmm...
So, here are some snap shots of my latest project. I have started knitting log cabin squares to destash my bin of blue yarn. I am really pleasantly suprised at how nice they all look together

Here is the square....

And here it is posing with the infamous bucket of blue yarn...

Here are my current works in progress.

Socks I made for my friend Paul that happen to match the new rug I bought for my kitchen.

An afghan I started for my honey. My cat, Cupcake, decided to help take the picture.

Another afghan I started for Mike - in more appropriate colors. For some reason, he loves camo.

And a sock I have just started...

STASHOLOGY: Archeology of my stash

Wool and some colorful yarn

Yarn for some boyfriend projects

Sock and baby yarn

1970's earthtones. I inherited several trash bags full of this stuff. Most of it has been used

Off white and some ombre yarn I bought at a garage sale with some blue yarn in a box for $5

Bright colored yarns

My premium yarns. All sorts of good stuff

Ooops - bought too much. Always pays to note the weight of the yarn before buying.

Blues. Some from the trash bags of yarn I got free, some acquired from the garage sale (it was $5 for the box)

Scraps and leftovers. Don't know what I will do with them but I hate to part with them. So many fond memories

Immediate works in progress. One sweater, two afghans, several pairs of socks.

Here are the shelves my Dad built in the closet in my spare room.

And here are the shelves loaded with the bins of yarn.
